This is pretty fascinating. Haven't read any of his works, but it's pretty cool to see. Someone else I know got Stephen King. I really didn't care who I got, as long as it wasn't Stephenie Meyer :l

"James Augustine Aloysius Joyce was an Irish writer and poet, widely considered to be one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. Along with Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, and others, Joyce was a key figure in the development of the modernist novel. He is best known for his landmark novel Ulysses. Other major works are the short-story collection Dubliners, and the novels A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Finnegans Wake."

"Ulysses: Since publication, the book attracted controversy and scrutiny, ranging from early obscenity trials to protracted textual "Joyce Wars." Ulysses' stream-of-consciousness technique, careful structuring, and experimental prose—full of puns, parodies, and allusions, as well as its rich characterisations and broad humour, made the book a highly regarded novel in the Modernist pantheon. In 1999, the Modern Library ranked Ulysses first on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century."

I feel awkward sharing my 'writing', though.
